Time splitters 4 will never be because of COD!
Former Free Radical MD Steve Ellis stated
“I spent the whole of 2008 going round talking to publishers trying to sign up Timesplitters 4,” Ellis told EDGE. “There just isn’t the interest there in doing anything that tries to step away from the rules of the genre – no one wants to do something that’s quirky and different, because it’s too much of a risk. And a large part of that is the cost of doing it.”
“Nobody really buys any FPSes unless they’re called Call Of Duty,” Ellis added
So who is to blame greedy shareholders, uninspired developers who copy and want to take out the top dog, or the gamers that don’t shell out the cash on a new interesting spin on a game mechanic because it strays too far from their comfort zone of gameplay? One of us have to make the first move and the the other two have to believe in their efforts if we want another gaming renaissance! Rise up my bothers and sisters!
